I posted previously (here) about the great work the UK Grasslands Forum has been doing in 2011.
We’ve now written up the notes from our meeting on Values in Grasslands from last October, and all but one of the presentations are also now available. Please take a look at the notes and presentations – available here. We explored a very wide range of values for grasslands at the seminar, but interestingly there was very little discussion about their economic value either in monetary or non-monetary terms.
I’ll let you know when the last presentation has been uploaded, as it’s well worth a look – it’s fascinating research by ecologist and anthropologist Zsolt Molnar looking at the values local pastoralists ascribe to different types of grasslands and the plants they support, in the Hortobagy National Park in Hungary.
